Epiphany House Blessing
At Epiphany, Christians ask Christ to bless their homes and all who enter them. Chalking the door is a simple public sign that this household belongs to him and seeks to practise his welcome.

Use blessed chalk if available. Write above or beside the principal doorway, replacing YYYY with the current year.

A simple order of blessing
2. Hear the Gospel
Read Matthew 2.1–12: the Magi follow the star, enter the house, worship the Christ Child and offer their gifts.
Keep a short silence. What gift of love, reconciliation or service might this household offer Christ?
3. Mark the doorway
Write the inscription and say: May Christ bless this house, and remain with us throughout the year.
4. Pray
Pray the Lord’s Prayer, then ask God’s blessing upon those who live here, those who visit, the neighbours and all who have no secure home.
Lord God of heaven and earth, fill this home with the light of Christ. Give to all who live and visit here health, kindness of heart and gentleness; and send our love outward to all. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
