“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them;
for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” – Matthew 19:14
The children of our parish are valued members of our parish community. We seek to build an abiding knowledge and love of God in our parishioners’ earliest years, which we hope will develop good soil for the seeds of faith to grow throughout each child’s life.
Newcomers, returning families, and one-day visitors to long-time parishioners are welcome!
Resources for 4 to 8-year-olds and 8 to 12-year-olds are available in each of the Children's corners within the churches.
Parents with infants and toddlers are encouraged to remain with their children in the church during the mass as they are able. We think it is important for very young children to become comfortable being in church. When young children cannot sit comfortably with the rest of the congregation, parents are invited to move to the children's areas where they may engage their children with toys or activities. There is plenty of space there to walk an infant back to sleep. We hope to have changing tables available in both Churches as soon as possible. At St Mary's, this will be in the Accessible toilet, and at St Matthew's, in the Vicars toilet.
Please get in touch with us if you have any questions about what you find here.
We emphasise sacramental worship (the Mass or Holy Eucharist) celebrated in a traditional Anglo-Catholic style, with strong orthodox teaching and preaching, supportive pastoral care, a caring parish family, and responsibility to our community and the greater world.
The Church is a Field Hospital for Sinners.
