“If one member suffers, all suffer together;
if one member is honoured, all rejoice together.”
1 Corinthians 12:26
At its heart, intercession is asking prayers of God, for a person, a place, or a particular situation. Although often for others, intercession can include praying for one’s own needs too.
At St Mary's and St Matthew's, we have many different ways of offering such prayer to God. Each day, at the Mass and at Evening Prayer, we offer ‘the Prayers of the People’, where we also offer the prayer requests we receive. There are two other ways that we pray specific intercessions; they are our Sunday Parish Prayer List and our weekly corporate recitation of the Rosary.

A Prayer of St. Chrysostom
Almighty God, who hast given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication unto thee; and hast promised through thy well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name thou wilt be in the midst of them: Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions of thy servants as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of thy truth, and in the world to come life everlasting.
Amen.

We emphasise sacramental worship (the Mass or Holy Eucharist) celebrated in a traditional Anglo-Catholic style, with strong orthodox teaching and preaching, supportive pastoral care, a caring parish family, and responsibility to our community and the greater world.
