Space to gather

A hall for celebrations, groups and community life

The Parish of St Mary the Virgin and St Matthew Ashford Parish Centre is used throughout the week by local organisations, families and community groups. Whether you are arranging a children’s party, a meeting, a class, a workshop or a regular activity, we would be pleased to help you explore whether one of our halls is suitable.

Both halls have step-free access, and the centre includes kitchen and toilet facilities. Please make an enquiry before announcing a date or making other firm arrangements. A proposed date is not reserved until the Parish Office confirms it.

A straightforward process

From enquiry to confirmed booking

We will guide you through each stage. An enquiry lets us assess the proposed use and availability; it does not itself reserve the hall.

Check availability

Use the Large Hall calendar as an initial guide. Some provisional or regular bookings may not yet appear, and Small Hall availability can differ.

Send an enquiry

Give your preferred date, full access times, expected attendance and the type of activity. Alternative dates are especially helpful.

We review it

The Hall Hire Team checks availability and whether the activity, numbers, facilities and practical arrangements are suitable.

Provisional arrangements

If the hall is available, the Parish Office explains current charges, the deposit, terms and any licences or supporting information needed.

Complete the booking

The booking is confirmed only after the required form, payment and deposit have been received and accepted. Do not pay until instructed.

Find a possible date

Large Hall availability

The calendar is a guide only. A blank date does not guarantee availability, and a date is not reserved until the Parish Office confirms it.

The calendar principally shows the Large Hall. Please use the enquiry form for the Small Hall, both halls or a regular booking.

Common questions

Before you contact us

These answers are a starting point. The Hall Hire Team will advise about your particular event and confirm the current requirements.

Does submitting the form book the hall?

No. The form begins the enquiry process. The Parish Office must confirm availability and issue the next-stage booking documents before any date is reserved or confirmed.

Can I make a regular booking?

Yes. Select “Regular or recurring booking” and give the proposed day, time, frequency and start date. Regular availability changes, so the Hall Hire Team will discuss suitable options with you.

Do I need to include setting-up time?

Yes. The booking period must cover access, deliveries, setting up, the event itself, clearing away and cleaning. The building must be completely vacated by the agreed end time.

Can we use the kitchen?

Kitchen facilities are available, but the intended use must be agreed. Hirers are responsible for food and drink hygiene and for leaving all areas, equipment and appliances clean.

Can we have alcohol?

Please explain whether alcohol will be supplied or sold. The Parish Centre is not licensed for the sale of alcohol, so a suitable licence may be required and must be approved before the event.

Can we play music, show a film or hold a performance?

Possibly, but licences and conditions may apply. Give full details in the enquiry so that the Hall Hire Team can advise you before any plans are advertised.

Is there a charity rate?

A charity rate may be available to registered charities. A valid charity number and supporting evidence will be required. The Parish Office will confirm the current charges.

Is parking available?

Parking within the Parish Centre grounds is limited. Please tell guests to park considerately, supervise children carefully near vehicles and keep all entrances and access routes clear.

When will I receive a reply?

The Hall Hire Team normally aims to respond within two working days. During busy periods, replies may take longer. The online form is the quickest way to supply all the information needed.
